My 1st Blogger Award: Mystery Blogger Award!!

Mystery blogger award.png

SOOOOOO…..This is my 1st blogger award nomination! I don’t know exactly what it means and I haven’t printed this nomination just yet (hits print) but I am extremely excited and happy about it. I love writing. I love reading. Reading is my way of taking in the world, embracing others thoughts and view points, and writing is my way of expressing my own. It’s like breathing, when you read you inhale and when you write you’re exhaling. You need both to survey. I’ve made a few friends blogging and have found joy in reading others posts and sharing my own. Nonetheless, I am just extremely happy someone thought of me and I am even more happy to share and pass this feeling along!

**Thank you Fisayo Adeyemi for thinking of me & sharing this love, check out her blog here: https://olufisayoadeyemi.wordpress.com/

Questions from Fisayo

1. Did you ever steal meat from the pot when you were a child?

I did not, lol, I knew better lol. Plus, I really wanted full meals, I didn’t want to ruin the meal. I’m still the same way!

2. What’s your own idea of a perfect day?

….Hmmm, this varies. A perfect day might would start on an island somewhere either in a private resort or house right off the ocean, where I can open the back door right to the sand! I would wake up from the sun, drink fresh coconut water and have a fresh mango to start the day. I would enjoy quit yoga on the beach, and loads of other activities on the island. I would certainly go for swim, have great food, go out and see the island, maybe do an excursion and meet a few islanders, and end the day in a hot tub. I can’t say if this is all done alone or not, lol. But this is just one day.

3. Would you go bald to please your partner ?

NO!!!

4. Whats the worst combination of food you can never eat?

Hmm, anything spicy! I can’t handle spicy food lol, so something spicy , hot, and sweet would be torture!

5. If you had a choice between love and happiness or happiness and wealth, which would you go for?

Happiness and wealth. Wealth isn’t always about money, so you can be physically, socially, financially, and romantically wealthy. I believe we can have it all. We can have our deepest desires and I am not someone who would want to be broke and in love, just saying, doesn’t make sense to me. Eventually you’ll end up unhappy.

 3 Things about me:

  1. I am a movie (and tv series fanatic)-I don’t know if the TV thing is real, but once I am addicted, it is hard to shake the habit! I literally re-watch movies & TV shows over and over and over again. Watching with friends is soooo hard bc I’m always trying to control myself by not repeating all the words. I’m annoying.
  2. I love to read! Self discovery, self help, and occasionally love and romance books. I tried to make a ‘favorites’ list, but I couldn’t choose 1, or 5, or 10. Here’s the list: https://ashleygulley.com/favorite-books-to-read/
  3. I love laughing! Lol, seriously, I laughed writing this! I’ve had high and low times in my life and have found that laughing is the best way to get through anything. I enjoy things and people that make me laugh. I enjoy making myself and others laugh. Mainly bc I’m really funny, lol! Laughter is powerful!

  4. I was with you til ‘lost a reader here’ – it was worth a rant, but didnt need the RSS -1 threat at the entniominadD.g and killing a niche is only fun for the people doing the dominating – being on the other side sucks ass.I almost have a feeling this guy is doing this knowing the big affiliates are all going to start crying when they see their impressions dwindle and profits crash – id bet that he may not be even making any money of this, just doing it to piss a few people off.Quality.

  6. I have congratulations in my curved arms and I’m tossing them at you. Congratulations, congratulations!
With regards to the discussion on finance and enjoying life. True, most people wait till a negative experience before they value living life being present. On the other hand, I also believe you can have it all. In the end it’s about making your money have a purpose like your life’s purpose you know. I had that problem. I kept saving and saving to take road trips and tour Nigeria but never took a trip. At first I didn’t save up to my bucket estimate and couldn’t take the first trip. Then I figured why not visit somewhere more affordable with a tour company, take out the time and make memories. I faced my fear of financial instability, took out of the travel bucket and took a trip to Olumo Rock 2 weeks ago. Best way I have spent N18,900 in a long time. There is nothing like facing your fears, living consciously and reasonably charting the course of your future.

    1. You’re absolutely right!!!! Spending your money wisely is certainly the best way to enjoy it. I love that you said it has to have a purpose just as your life does. Yes Money has to be considered a resource that should be used strategically in order to get the most out of it and life!

  8. Yay! glad I finally had the chance to read this nomination from you! congrats and thanks for nominating me as well.
I laughed when you said “makes no sense to be broke and happy, eventually you will be unhappy” and that is actually a very good point because financial reasons are the top reason for divorces anymore. Sadly. Also, why be broke when you can go for the gold and strive to be something more, I realize money isn’t everything but why stress living paycheck to paycheck barely making it, that isn’t no way to want to live. Good answers girl!

    1. Soooooooo true!!! It’s crazy how people try to force certain life styles and perspectives on you, like ‘go to college if you want to make money,’ or ‘save save save and enjoy retirement.’ No lol, I want to live and enjoy life now. I know I have to consider long term financial planning but that just means I have to think about how my income should be increased now, how to experience and enjoy life now!

      1. Yes, exactly.
See the way I think about it, is.. why miss out on life because you have to work so often just to make a living .. part of the world’s problem is we spend more than we make in order to make some kind of statement about ourselves.. if people spent what they had instead of spending more to impress someone .. you could enjoy life more and stress less about making more money. I want to live a financially stable lifestyle and while yes college and working is important and while yes we all have those hard times where we work two jobs to keep afloat until we find something better, I don’t want that for the rest of my life. I agree wholeheartedly. I am young now, and I don’t get to be any younger, so I want to take advantage of moments and memories my parents didn’t have the chance to.

      2. Omg! I was just explaining to someone that people do all this work and spend all their money on houses and cars that they can never enjoy because they’re consumed with working all day to pay for it. I still don’t understand the point of that. You go to work, just to pay for a house you only come back to for eating dinner and sleeping? I want to be able to enjoy the things I have, the life I’m creating. I don’t want to wait until I’m retired or hurt or sick to see the world and experience life. I think some people only stop to take in everything when they realize they’re sick, close to death or someone near them is dying. Most people get so busy making a living they’re forget to live 😩 sad world! Glad you’re one of the few who gets it and want to share your knowledge and wisdom with the world

      3. Exactly! this strikes up a good point.
We wait too long to enjoy things. Why should you or I have to wait til retirement, hell! how the hell do I know if I will even make it to damn retirement in the first place and how do I know if tomorrow I will wake up from my sleep. We get too comfortable with being comfortable and complacent. I always like striving for a purpose.. striving for something that makes me curious and want to give it a go. Like you had mentioned, why are we waiting until we are close to death or getting sick before we want to spend our lives having a good time? Everyone I know my age who owns a home is working a lot to pay for their home and new cars .. but less time exploring or out in the fun sun.. they have to bust their ass to do exactly what they were doing before buying the home.. which is working more hours , long days and stressing over the next big bill after the mortgage. I want a career where I work but I have time to do things I love outside of work.. I have time to spend time with people I love, I don’t want to take those things for granted.

      4. RT RT RT! Lol, I want a job that I love and enjoy that doesn’t make me want to take a day off. I literally want to wake up daily enjoying life. I honestly think millennials are doing this so much more now than our parents and grandparents.
